France day 2024
Estepona celebrates France Day with a programme of activities that will begin on Wednesday
It is included in the 'Sharing Cultures' project created by the City Council to promote the integration of foreign residents
The deputy mayor of the Extrarradio area, Begoña Ortiz; and the head of the Alliance Française delegation in Estepona, Florine Lafont, have presented the programme of activities that have been organised to celebrate France Day.
The municipal official explained that this is an activity framed within the 'Sharing Cultures' programme, organised by the Town Hall, which aims to promote French culture and customs, as well as to encourage the integration of the more than 900 French people who are registered in Estepona.
The councillor explained that the activities, which are supported by the Alliance Française, will last for three days. She also said that these dates have been chosen to coincide with an important event in France, such as the Beaujolais Nouveau festival, a very popular red wine that is launched on the market in France on the third Thursday of November.
The head of the Alliance Française in the town, Florine Lafont, has informed about the programme of activities that will begin this Wednesday, November 20, at 7:30 p.m., with the inauguration of the exhibition 'Les coulisses du cinéma', at the Padre Manuel Cultural Center. It is an "interesting exhibition" of 32 black and white photographs that capture intimate moments from French film shoots captured by Christophe Brachet.
On Thursday, November 21, also at the Padre Manuel Cultural Center, the classic film 'La Grande Vadrouille' will be screened, with free admission until full capacity is reached.
Finally, on Saturday 23 November, most of the activities will be held, such as the petanque competition, from 10:00 to 12:00 in Calle Félix Troyano (next to the San Fernando football pitch), with prior registration by email at f.lafont@afmalaga. In addition, from 12:00 to 13:00 there will be an introductory course in petanque, a sport that originated in 1907 in French Provence.
On the same day, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m., the Place du Chess will host the Grand Market Français, where visitors can sample typical French dishes and Beaujolais wine. There will be various stands selling decoration, art, Christmas gifts and workshops for children. At 6:00 p.m., in the same location, there will be a concert by the group 'Pascale & Co', who will perform French songs to the rhythm of jazz.
