The Municipal Theatre Group 'Farándula' revives 'The Heroes of Villafranca', by playwright I. García Barba, to benefit the Alzheimer's Association
The performance of this comedy will take place next Saturday, November 30, at the Felipe VI Auditorium
Estepona Town Hall informs that the Municipal Theatre Group 'Farándula' will once again perform the play 'Los héroes de Villafranca', by the great author Ignasi García Barba, which premiered with great success during the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the theatre group. On this occasion, the performance will take place next Saturday, November 30, at 8:00 p.m., in the Felipe VI Auditorium. It will be for the benefit of the Association of Relatives of Alzheimer's Patients of Estepona.
The play is set in Aragon, at the beginning of the 19th century, during the Napoleonic occupation of the peninsula. A comedy in pure style, which will be performed by local actors Miguel López, Rafa Alijas, Ana Fargas, Nathalie Martín, Sebastián Márquez, Miguel Aragón, Carlos Llovet, Jorge Centeno, Sabrina Castellano M. and Maribel Aragón. Directed by Jesús Luque, with Asunción Rivera as assistant director.
Tickets cost 10 euros and can be purchased at the box office from one hour before the start of the performance.
GMT 'FARÁNDULA'. The Municipal Theatre Group was created in 1983 and debuted in 1984 with the play 'En la ardiente oscura', by Buero Vallejo. Since then it has premiered almost a hundred titles from different theatrical genres.
Among the numerous awards received, the most notable was the one awarded at the 15th Campillos Competition: Best Play and Best Female Performance to Mª Victoria de Miguel, with 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof', a free version of the work based on the text by the playwright Tennessee Williams, whose interpretation also earned her the Award for Best Play at the National Theatre Competition 'Villa de Pizarra 2014'.
At the 13th Campillos Competition, two of its members: Rafa Alijas and Mar Berlanga, were also recognised as best performers in the well-known Adolfo Marsillach play 'Yo me bajo en la próxima, ¿y usted?'. In 2011, two awards stand out: the Award for Best Male Performance to Miguel López for his role in 'Gaviotas terrestres' at the 11th Campillos Competition and at the 3rd Olvera Theatre Competition. And that same year he received the 'Torre Almenara 2011' Award for Best Cultural Entity, awarded by the 24 Horas Deportivas Foundation of Estepona.
In addition, the GMT 'Farándula' won two awards in 2016 at the XVI 'Isidro Carbonero Villa de Campillos' Theatre Competition. The show 'Mamás', a comedy play by Marc Egea
in which two women recount their experiences in the world of motherhood, won the award for best female performer for Mercedes Bazán and best set design.
Since 1998, GMT 'Farándula' has been directed by Jesús Luque.
