The Magnum Mysterium Choir has been developing its musical activity in Estepona for over 30 years. Originally called 'Villa de Estepona', it was founded in 1987. Initially, it was established as a chamber choir focused on the study and performance of classical polyphony, and throughout its history, it has incorporated works of all styles and eras into its repertoire, from music from Eastern European countries, Sephardic songs, and popular works to film scores, musicals, and polyphonic scores by contemporary composers.

In 1992, the Choir was established as a non-profit Cultural Association to promote the study and practice of quality polyphonic choral music. It has given concerts in various cities throughout Spain and participated in competitions, exchanges, and international meetings, taking the city's name beyond our borders, demonstrating its outstanding musical quality. It has received the 2011 Torre Almenara Award and the 2012 "Estepónero del Año" award from the International Rotary Club.

Its principal conductor, Miguel Ángel Garrido Sánchez, professor emeritus at the Manuel Carra Professional Conservatory in Málaga, currently devotes his time to conducting choirs, continuing a long career in teaching polyphonic choral music, which he combines with his work as an organist.
