The Casa de Las Tejerinas will host an exhibition by multidisciplinary artist Carla Hurtado from Alicante.
The exhibition, titled "Steps Toward the Ineffable," will be open to the public from April 10 to 23.
Estepona City Council announces that the Casa de Las Tejerinas, located in Plaza de las Flores, will host the exhibition entitled "Steps Toward the Ineffable" by multidisciplinary artist Carla Hurtado, starting April 10th.
The exhibition, curated by Mikey Rico, brings together a total of fourteen works divided into four series: Niñas de Luna, consisting of four pieces made with acrylic on canvas; Universo, consisting of five pieces of acrylic and flexible modeling clay on canvas; the Renacer series, composed of four textured acrylic works on canvas; and Tótem, which showcases a marine sculpture made with epoxy putty on stone.
“My work is an intimate and universal journey, a journey through the inner and outer landscapes that have shaped my life and my art. With 'Steps Toward the Ineffable,' I explore that which cannot be named but can be felt, that which transcends the tangible to delve into the emotional, the spiritual, and the inexplicable. Each brushstroke is a step closer to the ineffable,” the artist states.
The exhibition will be open until April 23rd, Tuesday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with free admission.
Carla Hurtado was born in Alicante in the spring of 1988. In 1996, her family moved to San Vicente del Raspeig, where she began to forge her artistic path. Between 2013 and 2015, she expanded her horizons to crafts and modeling, excelling in the use of polymer clay and creating handcrafted jewelry.
She later moved to Bigastro, where she had her first child and began studying illustration and editorial layout. Between 2017 and 2018, she had her second daughter, which led her to create personalized sculptures for children's birthday parties. Her business grew rapidly, selling throughout Spain.
In the midst of the pandemic, she created her first book cover, followed by many more, and in 2022 she began painting again, exploring new materials for sculpture. She also took art therapy courses and published her first illustrated children's book, titled "The Tooth of Wishes." Currently, Carla continues to illustrate book covers for self-published writers and dedicates herself to painting and sculpture with the aim of generating a dialogue of listening and empathy with those who view her work. She also collaborates with psychologists to help others in their process of self-discovery through painting.
