Registration for the "burning of the mustaches of san juan" competition 2025
The City Council opens the registration period for the 'Burning of the Mustaches of San Juan' contest.
The "Burnings" can be registered until June 13 at the City Hall's General Registry, and will be set alight on Monday, June 23, at La Rada Beach, at midnight, at the beginning of San Juan Night.
Estepona City Council announces that registration will remain open until June 13th to participate in the 45th 'San Juan Mustache Burning' Contest, which will be held on June 23rd at La Rada Beach.
In accordance with the rules for this local competition, available online, the Councilor for Festivals, Macarena Diánez, has announced that all individuals and legal entities, Brotherhoods, Confraternities, and neighborhood associations are welcome to participate. Participants must submit their design sketches for the Burning in advance to the Municipal Festivals Office at the following email address: fiestas@estepona.es
Registration will be done through the Entry Registry at City Hall, from May 12 to June 13, 2025, inclusive.
All burnings submitted to the competition will be installed in the area designated by the City Council, on La Rada Beach. The theme of the burning, as well as its dimensions, will be freely chosen. Designs that violate the right to honor, personal and family privacy, or those that are disrespectful to religious beliefs and/or sexual orientation will not be accepted into the competition.
The Municipal Festival Department has established the following prizes for the best Burnings: First Prize, €1,000 + trophy; Second Prize, €750 + trophy; Third Prize, €500 + trophy; and fourth, fifth, and sixth prizes, €300 each, amounts expressed in gross amounts.
The jury, which will be composed of the Councilor for Festivals or her delegate, with one member from each registered Burning acting as a member, who cannot vote on their proposal, will visit each Burning starting at 9:00 p.m. Prizes will be awarded based on the theme of the Burning, artistic quality, ingenuity, tradition, humor and originality, and the atmosphere and popularity of the Burning.
The burnings participating in the competition will be set alight starting at midnight, at the beginning of the Night of San Juan.
The City Council reserves the right to pardon any of the Burnings submitted to the competition that, due to their uniqueness, could be used in another municipal event.
