The Amateur theater group Arteatro 13 performs the play "The Importance of Being Earnest" at the Padre Manuel Cultural Center.

The performance of this work by Oscar Wilde will take place next Friday, June 13, at 7:00 p.m.

Estepona City Council announces that the amateur theater group Arteatro 13 will perform Oscar Wilde's acclaimed play "The Importance of Being Earnest" next Friday, June 13th. It will be directed by Beatriz Chacón and will feature performances by actors Diego Navarro, Jerónimo Mora, Francisco José Rodríguez, Julia Jiménez, Yolanda Jiménez, Ana Recio Martínez, Caterina Pailhez, and Marta Mora. The Arteatro group premiered this play last February in Manilva, performed it last weekend in Malaga at the Maynake venue, and now it's coming to Estepona.

The Importance of Being Earnest is a play by Oscar Wilde written in 1895. This 'frivolous comedy for serious people', or, as Oscar Wilde also describes it, 'a farce admirable for style, but fatal to writing', is perhaps the brilliant Irish author's best-known and most performed work. In it, Wilde devotes himself to the wit of language and makes style, chatter, and nonsense the core of the piece. It is a comedy of errors in which the author takes aim at marriage, religion, and whatever makes us respectable. The play tells the story of two men, Jack and Algernon, who employ all manner of deception to add excitement to their lives.

Tickets for this comedy, which will be performed next Friday, June 13, are 10 euros and can be purchased at the 1X2 lottery office, across from the orchid garden, or at the box office one hour before the event.

Arteatro theater group

The Amateur Theater Group Arteatro 13 emerged as part of the cultural association of the same name, created in 2023 to develop, promote, create, and disseminate cultural events, including the "Mantea Amateur Theater Competition." The members of this group, despite its recent formation, have been immersed in the theater world for decades and always promise to put on a great show.
