Molvavian opera presents "nabucco"
The Moldavian National Opera Theatre presents Nabucco in Estepona with Spanish subtitles
Next Sunday, November 16, starting at 7:00 p.m. It was Verdi's first great success, catapulting him to fame, and contains the famous chorus of the Hebrew slaves 'Va, pensiero'.
The Estepona City Council announces that the Leonor Gago Artist Management 'LGAM' company will present a new and majestic production of Giuseppe Verdi's opera 'NABUCCO' at the Felipe VI Auditorium Theatre.
It will be a single performance, next Sunday, November 16, at 7:00 p.m., with Spanish subtitles, and a cast of more than 70 artists on stage and leading international soloists from the Moldavian National Opera Theatre.
Giuseppe Verdi's great lyric tragedy, with an Italian libretto by Temistocle Solera, marked the beginning of his rise to fame as a composer. Based on the Old Testament and the play Nabuchodonosor by Francis Cornue and Anicète Bourgeois, it premiered on March 9, 1842, at La Scala in Milan. Although not one of Verdi's most frequently performed operas, Nabucco was his first major success, catapulting him to stardom. This opera offers moments of intense lyricism and choral grandeur, featuring the iconic chorus "Va, pensiero," considered an anthem of resistance that has moved and continues to move generations.
Divided into four acts, the scene takes place between Jerusalem and Babylon in 586 BC. Its plot revolves around the oppression of the Jewish people by the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar, exploring themes of power, faith, redemption, and freedom.
The Moldovan National Opera is located in Chisinau, the capital city. After the collapse of the USSR, it became one of the few companies with its own orchestra, chorus, soloists, and ballet. Its operatic repertoire includes Madame Butterfly, Aida, Norma, Turandot, and Nabucco, as in this case.
