The Estepona City Council informs that the Municipal Band will open the 2025-2026 season of the symphonic cycle next Saturday, November 22, in the traditional Extraordinary Concert in honor of Saint Cecilia, which will take place at 8:00 p.m. in the Felipe VI Auditorium Theatre, where it will commemorate the 85th anniversary of its founding.

The Santa Cecilia concert will be conducted by the principal conductor and artistic director of the Municipal Band, José Antonio López Camacho, and will be divided into two parts: a first part of symphonic music, in which the Band will perform the concert pasodoble “Música i Poble” by the Valencian composer Ferrer Ferran, and the historical recovery of the original manuscript of the posthumous work “Axarquía” by Maestro Perfecto Artola Prats, revised by the Estepona musician José Antonio Cervantes, and a second part, in which the voices of the Magnum Mysterium Choir will join the Band in a Lyrical Gala that will include a selection of choruses from zarzuelas and operas, such as the “Seguidillas” from the zarzuela “La Verbena de la Paloma”, in homage to the 175th anniversary of the birth of Tomás Bretón.

The concert will feature Paloma Artola Küstner, granddaughter of Maestro Perfecto Artola Prats and president of the La Artística Cultural Association of Malaga.

During the performance of the fandango from the zarzuela "Doña Francisquita" by Amadeo Vives, castanet soloist Soraya Chico will perform as a guest artist.

Invitations for this free concert can be collected from Monday, November 17th at the Padre Manuel Cultural Center, located at Calle San Fernando, 2, Monday to Friday, from 11:00 to 14:00 and from 17:00 to 20:00.
