The Estepona City Council informs that next Friday, November 28, at 8:00 p.m., a concert by the string and plucked string group 'El Rebalaje' will take place at the Casa de Las Tejerinas, in the Plaza de Las Flores.
'El Rebalaje' is the first plucked-string chamber group formed in Estepona. In 2016, on the beaches of Estepona, a group of people drawn to music came together and, using instruments originally from Spain (bandurrias, lutes, and guitars), performed a wide variety of musical styles. They were later joined by new members and instruments, such as the cello and the human voice.
Currently, the group consists of Diego Martín and Melchor Alarcón (bandurrias), Felipe Cobo and Karl Svensson (guitars), María Teresa Sánchez-Garrido and Ezequiel Martín (lutes) and Rosa Baeza (cello), and the singers Isabel Moreno (soprano) and David Geary and Karl Svensson (baritones), and the new collaborations of Brigitta Kovacs, harp and piano, and Laura Muñoz, violin.
Their repertoire includes traditional Spanish plucked string instruments, works by great classical composers, modern pieces, film scores, Neapolitan music, zarzuelas, and other styles. Since 2018, they have performed solo or with other musical groups, such as the Magmum Mysterium Choir of Estepona, in venues including the Corominas Megalithic Necropolis Interpretation Center, the Plaza del Reloj (Clock Square), and the Padre Manuel Cultural Center in Estepona; the Collegiate Church of Santa María la Mayor in Antequera; Alquife, Granada; Paterna del Río, Almería; and the neighboring town of Casares.
In this concert, the group will perform a wide-ranging repertoire of works. Among others, the program will encompass pieces from the Classical Baroque era by Bach and Handel, such as Gavotte, Rondo, and Sarabande, and Waltzes by J. Strauss and Shostakovich, as well as works by Spanish composers, such as Tárrega and his famous Recuerdos de la Alhambra, and Zarzuela pieces like 'El Coro de
Repatriados' from Gigantes y Cabezudos, by Manuel Fernández Caballero, or Pasodobles like Amparito Roca by J. Texidor, not forgetting 'María la Portuguesa' by Carlos Cano, until ending with the world premiere of 'Andagietto', by the guitarist and composer Vicente Solsona.
Entry to the show will be free until capacity is reached.

*“This work is a fantastic gift of inspiration, delicacy, and subtle musical aromas, with which the Castellón-born composer residing in Estepona, Vicente Solsona, has enriched and enhanced the sound and colors of instruments so characteristic of our region, such as the bandurria, the lute, and the guitar. It is being performed in public for the first time at this concert.”
