The Estepona City Council informs that next Tuesday, March 10, at 8:00 p.m., the lecture 'Tamara de Lempicka' will be given at the Library of Contemporary Cultures of the Mirador del Carmen, by the teacher of the Drawing and Painting Workshop of the municipal delegation of Culture, Rocío Garín.

The speaker will discuss the figure of the Polish artist Tamara Rosalia Gurwik-Górska, known as Tamara de Lempicka (Warsaw, Poland, May 16, 1898 – Cuernavaca, Mexico, March 18, 1980), a painter who achieved fame in Europe, especially in France and the United States, with her Art Deco style portraits and nudes, of which she was a leading exponent.

In an era of newfound freedoms, she broke many rules that proved useless after World War I. A mother, wife, artist, and influencer, she was an extraordinary woman who faced incredibly difficult situations and carved out a place for herself in the art world. She fled the Bolshevik Revolution and lived in Paris, New York, and Hollywood, embracing luxury as her way of life.

The event, which is free and open to the public until capacity is reached, aims to foster interest in the visual arts. It is also part of the program of events commemorating International Women's Day.

Rocío Garín. From a very young age, the Estepona-born artist Rocío Garín (1977) has enjoyed “drawing and painting,” a passion that led her to study at the School of Arts and Crafts in Algeciras and, later, at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Seville, where she graduated in 2001. She quickly began working as a restorer of some of the most significant monuments in Seville, as well as church facades in the Andalusian capital.

Since returning to Estepona in 2002, she has taught drawing and painting, an activity she combines with three aspects of her artistic career: research, artistry, and teaching. She has developed various teaching methods.

In 2013 he published a “Drawing and Painting Manual” which includes the main techniques and tools to consider in the first year of student training.
