The Estepona City Council informs that, on the occasion of the celebration of the May Crosses festival, the Festivals department has organized, for Saturday, May 2nd, the traditional popular competition in which Brotherhoods, Fraternities and Neighborhood Associations can participate.
The aim of this competition, which rewards the beauty of these altars, is to encourage the decoration of streets and squares with crosses and floral decorations.
Those interested in participating can consult the rules on the Notice Board of the City Hall's Electronic Office and download the registration form from Annex I at the end of the rules. Completed registration forms can be submitted to the City Hall's Registry Office, addressed to the Municipal Festivals Department, until April 27, 2026.
Both the rules and the registration form, in Annex I, are available on the Town Hall Notice Board. Registrations can be made in person or electronically at the Town Hall's General Registry Office until April 27th.
In this new edition, a single category has been established for the best cross displayed in streets or squares. The Festivals Department has established the following prizes: 1st prize: €1,000; 2nd prize: €750; 3rd prize: €500; 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th prizes: €300 each.
The jury's visit to the Crosses will take place on the same day as the celebration, Saturday, May 2nd, starting at 12:00 noon, without prior notice, so they must be fully installed by that time.
Once all the crosses submitted to the competition have been visited, the jury will announce its decision after deliberation. Criteria such as the beauty of the cross, the ornamentation of the location where it is installed, its adherence to tradition, the craftsmanship, and the details used in the overall design will be considered.
