The Estepona City Council informs that the French writer and origami artist based in the city, Alain Georgeot, will give the lecture 'The art of paper' next Friday, May 22, at 6:00 p.m., in the Alfonso Gil Room of the Casa de Las Tejerinas, located in the Plaza de las Flores.
A paper folder since 1983 and former president of the French Paper Folders Movement, he has collaborated with origami artists in 113 countries and regularly participates in international origami conventions. He is the author of several articles on the history of paper and its connection to serenity and the human brain. “When the hand is occupied with paper, the mind is free,” he says.
In this session, the speaker proposes a journey through the history of paper, from its creation to its universal expansion. “We will explore its capacity for both study and entertainment.”
The session will take place in a multilingual environment and will be dynamic; it will include practical exercises to train hands and mind, with a focus on "folds of smiles and reflections".
It is a perfect opportunity to gently introduce yourself to origami, serving as a prelude to future practical workshops.
Alain Georgeot (Castelsarrasin, Tarn-et-Garonne (France) - 1952). With more than fifty works written throughout his career, his experience as an origami artist is also reflected in his writing style: subtle folds, precision of gestures, beauty in the minimal.
Last year he made a significant impact on the Spanish-French literary scene with 'Los Balsaminos'. Inspired by a personal experience with an origami artist from Benin, the story begins with the everyday and culminates in a vital reflection on respect, ancestral wisdom, and the transformation of the individual.
