Book presentation "sofia and the mystery of heaven"
The Library of Contemporary Cultures hosts the presentation of 'Sophia and the Mystery of Heaven' this Thursday
The book was written by Esther Ráez with the aim of explaining death, absence and grief to elementary school children.
The Estepona City Council informs that this Thursday, May 28, the Library of Contemporary Cultures at Mirador El Carmen will host the presentation of the book 'Sofia and the Mystery of Heaven' by Esther Ráez, a cultural initiative aimed at enabling primary school children to address the topic of death, absence and grief in a respectful, approachable and constructive way.
The presentation, which will begin at 8:00 p.m., will be hosted by Nono Rodríguez, a teacher at the IES Mar de Alborán and a friend of the author. Esther Ráez will also be present, sharing with attendees the origins and creative process behind the book. The author is the sister of Pablo Ráez, the young athlete from Málaga who became a symbol for his advocacy for bone marrow donation.
The City Council has shown its support for this project by delivering copies of this work to the 13 primary schools in the city.
During the meeting, more details will be revealed about this illustrated story, a delicate and profound tale that accompanies the youngest children in understanding loss and grief through a symbolic narrative focused on family dialogue, memories, and shared recollection.
The book, illustrated by Cristina Barba, is aimed at both children and the adults who support them through complex emotional processes. The project stems from the author's personal experience and her desire to create a space where children and families can explore loss with thoughtful language, sensitivity, and empathy.
Readers will follow the story of Sofia, a young girl trying to understand her uncle's death through questions, memories, and family routines. Through her perspective, the book offers an approach to the grieving process that encourages open discussion of emotions without providing definitive answers, fostering listening, empathy, and emotional support.
